In anticipation of bringing their upcoming games to Las Vegas, Harlem Globetrotters star and Las Vegas native Scooter Christensen was able to bring the “T.E.A.M up at School” program to St. Anne’s Catholic School.

The fun, new and interactive presentation aims at providing students with bullying solutions through the acronym T.E.A.M. that stands for Talk, Empathize, Ask, and Mobilize. The presentation used the team’s signature ball-handling skills and humor – for a well –balanced presentation that informs and entertains. This program was designed in coordination with the National Campaign to Stop Violence. The Harlem Globetrotters brought their 2019 Fan Powered World Tour to the Orleans Arena on Sunday, Aug. 25 at 2 p.m.

The Scene Interview:

Vegas Scene Magazine had the opportunity to spend some time with Scooter, a proud member of the famous and all entertaining Harlem Globe Trotters, our very own Las Vegas local who graduated from Gorman High School spoke to kids at St Anne's Catholic School about bullying. His speech and message that was delivered were entertaining and compelling, his connection with the kids was terrific as he talked about the importance of "channeling their energy for a definite purpose, to not be afraid to speak up for yourself or others who can’t speak for themselves." He also advocated for kids to stay in school and get a good education so that they have something always to fall back on and always check your attitude because having the right attitude opens a lot of doors and opportunities in life coupled with having heart and determination.

Scooter is a motivational speaker for kids. His advice to students is to: Put down the phones and get to know a person. He also encourages kids to stay in school, get the education granted to you, and always check your attitude because your attitude is what opens doors. Vegas Scene is proud to recognize and share Scooter's positive influence and to encourage more adults to help mentor the kids moving into our future.
